Madonna has filed adoption papers in Malawi.The Malawi court judge, Andrew Nyrienda, issued an interim order that allowed Madonna and Guy Ritchie to go home with the 1 year old baby boy named David. Madonna has not commented to reporters on the adoption reports. Her publicist, Liz Rosenberg, emailed the statement: "I am unable to make any official statement at this time."
The 32 year old father of the baby, Yohame Banda, is happy that the celebrity couple will become his parents. Banda told the Associated Press, "I am the father of David, who has been adopted. I am very very happy because as you can see there is poverty in this village and I know he will be very well looked after in America." His wife and the mother of the baby boy, Marita, died a month after the birth due to complications. David has since been cared for at the Home of Hope Orphan Care Center in Mchinji, a village near the Zambian border. Yohame met Madonna and Ritchie at the court and said, "They are a lovely couple. She asked me many questions. She and her husband seem happy with David. I am happy for him. Madonna promised me that as the child grows she will bring him back to visit."
This will make child number three for Madonna, who has a 5 year old son named Rocco with Ritchie and a 9 year old daughter named Lourdes, from a previous relationship.
